In the 1890's the Krupp Brothers of Essen Germany had discovered the value of adding vanadium and uranium to iron in their gun business, but the elements were in short supply, so they sent William Beddig to Colorado where they had reportedly been discovered. He arrived in March and unfortunately the area was snowbound,
so he journeyed on to Salt Lake City where on the 26th of March he begged our prospectors to search for them here.
