In the mid1980's, although living in Orem, I was working on the Deseret Bonanza coal fired powerhouse southeast of Vernal Utah. We were working 8 hour shifts from 7 - 3:30 so had long evenings to do whatever we wished.
In the Winter I stayed at my uncle Dee Johnson's cabin in Manila (a long drive but far shorter then Orem) during the week.
In Spring, Summer, and Fall I lived out of my suburban on the desert west of the Power Plant known as "The Devil's Playground. Not the one out west in Box Elder county. This is where Uintah Lake existed 38-50 million years ago. Fantasy Canyon is a part of it.The area is weathering out the skeletons of ancient turtles and mammals. I found a Eohippus jawbone and gave it to the Vernal Field House of Natural History.
The moment I regret occurred one afternoon after parking in a usual place and taking a usual path where I would pick up pieces of turtles and other creatures and toss them back into the main parts piles, hoping some qualified person with time could put them back together again.
That afternoon halfway past my usual path I saw a bright shiny splash of metal! It had obviously recently occurred, hit in a spot about 3 inches wide and splattered over an area about 12 feet long and 3-4 feet wide.
I had no camera, no way to preserve it or anyone responsible to share it with. 30-40 years later I still regret it.
