Milton was born on the 21st of February in 1917 with his mother's family in Holden Utah, and grew up with his father's family in Hinckley Utah.

1n 1920 the population of Hinckley was 821 people. He grew up the oldest of seven, three boys and four girls; his grandmother Celestial Knight, Aunt Daisy Dutson and her eight children, Uncle James Aubrey Knight and his seven children, and Aunt Almira Pratt and her three children.
The children were "FRISKY."
By 1930 Milton was a Boy Scout and Hinckley had grown to 678 people.
In 1934 he graduated from the Hinckley Seminary.
In 1935 he graduated from Hinckley High School.
In 1936 he began attending Brigham Young University in Provo Utah.
And attended a "Waffle Supper."
He went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad during hard times.
1939 March 15th Milton's grandmother, Celestial Roberts Knight died in Hinckley.
In 1939 he met and soon married Melba Johnson Crosby whose husband. Murray Crosby, had recently (27 June 1937) been murdered in Provo Utah.
He enlisted 23 March 1940 in the U. S. Army air Core.

The Great Depression lasted from August 1929 to June 1938, almost 10 years. The economy started to shrink in August 1929, months before the stock market crash in October of that year. 1 The economy began growing again in 1938, but unemployment remained higher than 10% until 1941. That's when the United States entered World War II.
